Jeff Bezos rescued in Galapagos by Ecuadorian Navy

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was evacuated out of the Galapagos Islands by the Ecuadoran Navy on Wednesday after suffering a kidney stone attack, according to local newspaper reports

The Internet billionaire was flown by navy helicopter from Academy Bay in Santa Cruz Island to a private jet on Baltra Island, according to a report in El Comercio. Bezos, who was on a sightseeing cruise in the area, was then flown to the US for emergency treatment, according to a report in El Universo.

An Amazon spokesperson told CNET that Bezos was comfortable and resting in the US.

"Galapagos: five stars. Kidney stones: zero stars," Bezos said in a statement relayed to CNET by a company spokesperson.
