Apple gushes on 30 years of making Macs

This year signifies the 30th anniversary of the Macintosh computer, and who better to reflect on this achievement than the almighty creator Apple? Cupertino has dedicated a corner of its website to such a retrospective, the focal point of which is an inspirational video starring several fans who talk about what Macs have meant to them (embedded below). After learning that Moby is still a thing and that Macs represent a "truly worldwide democratization of creativity," you can peruse a slick, interactive timeline that walks you through all the iterations and how innovative each one was. You can also tell Apple about your first Mac and what you used it for, with that data populating polls around the site. There are worse ways to kill time, so if you've got some to spare, head to the source link and bathe in Cook & Co's glory -- then head on over to our forum to wax poetic about your first Mac.

3 Rules to Making Your Site Pinterest Friendly

Author: Courtney Gordner
Published: January 06, 2014 at 11:55 pm ShareTweet With every social media site comes the opportunity to market yourself and your product in a new way. Pinterest is no different, as long as you know what you are doing. Unlike Facebook and Twitter, you cannot just talk up your site and add a connecting link to Pinterest. Why you need a Pinterest-friendly blogPinterest is an image driven site. It is not organized by fan pages, but by style boards. It is a completely different platform for social media; therefore, it has different rules for directing traffic to your personal site. In order to get the most out of Pinterest, your site needs to be Pinterest friendly. You must adapt to this site, because it will not adapt to you. Below are some tips and ground rules for making your site as Pinterest friendly as possible. ImagesAs previously mentioned, Pinterest is all about images. However, not every image is compatible with Pinterest. For example, Flash will not work with Pinterest, so if you have a Flash slideshow of images across your site, they will not be pinnable to any boards you may have on Pinterest. Instead use an HTML5 slideshow. According to some, HTML5 is not only Pinterest compatible, but more user friendly as well. Once you are sure the platform you’re using to display your images is compatible with Pinterest, make sure the images themselves meet Pinterest standards. In order for your site or blog to be shared by a follower on Pinterest, it must contain an image that is at least 100 x 200 pixels. Depending on where you want your image to be on Pinterest, whether it’s your profile picture, a cover image, a thumbnail, or a pin, there are regulation sizes you need to stick to. Pinterest Image Sizing Pin It!While this one seems obvious, it is worth mentioning that you are more likely to have images from your site on Pinterest if you include a Pin It button on your page. The easier it is for a viewer to share an image or idea, the more likely they will actually share it. If it takes too much work for a viewer to share a cool idea, they will forget about it and move on. We live in a fast-paced world and, if you can’t keep up, you better believe you will be left behind. The idea of adding a Pin It button to your website may scare some of the less tech-savvy individuals out there, but Pinterest actually has an application to help you install a Pin It button, a follow button, and widgets. You can do more than just add the Pin It button to the bottom of you page as well. You can also have the Pin It button appear when viewers hover over any images on your page that you have set up to link to Pinterest. Image DescriptionsNot everyone in this world focuses on the details, but a good amount of Pinteresters are all about details. While Pinterest is not a text heavy site, you do have control over the descriptions you include with your images that will follow them to the boards on Pinterest. A memorable description that captures not only the image, but its connection to you and your site will help bring pinners back to you in the future. Another important thing to keep in mind is your meta tags. A meta tag is the description that follows the HTML information for your images. Pinterest will grab your meta tags before they include the description you’ve written along with the image. You can ensure that an image will not be pinned with a description that has no relevance to your site by writing them yourself. ExampleLet’s take a look at this site and determine if it is as Pinterest friendly as possible or, if not, where it can be improved. As you can see from the home page, there are multiple images that encompass ideas shared by many individuals: science, spirit, body, family. While I cannot access the pixel size from searching for image properties, if these images in particular included a Pin It link, there is a good chance a lot of people would connect to at least one of these ideals and add the image to one of their boards. This site also offers a photo gallery, showing beautiful buildings and landscapes that embody total relaxation. Anyone thinking about a peaceful vacation to Florida would love to pin some of these images. Pinterest-ready images? The one downfall for the images provided on the 12 Keys Rehab site is that most of the people who would want to pin these images will most likely not be interested in going to rehabilitation. The images absolutely give off the feeling of comfort and relaxation that 12 Keys offers its visitors, but those pinning about drug abuse probably aren’t looking for these kinds of images. Additionally, those looking for relaxing images probably don’t want a connection to drug and alcohol addiction. If this site could find the right audience on Pinterest, by adding a Pin It button and using the right description for their targeted viewers, the images have great potential for aiding in the use of Pinterest.      About this article Profile image for CourtneyGorder Article Author: Courtney Gordner

The Basics On How TO Start Making Money With Adsense

Adsense is considered as one of the most powerful tool in a website publishers arsenal. It enables a person to monetize their sites easily. If used properly, it can generate a very large and healthy income for them. However if you are not using them rightly and just maximizing the income you squeeze from it, you are actually leaving a lot of money on the table. Something all people hate doing.

How you can start earning money with Adsense can be done easily and quickly. You will be amazed at the results you will be getting in such a short period of time.

Start by writing some quality content articles which are also keyword incorporated. There are a lot of people given the gift of being good with words. Writing comes easy for them. Why not make it work in such a way that you will be earning some extra cash in the process.

There are actually three steps to put into mind before you begin writing your ads and having an effective Adsense.

Keyword search. Find some popular subjects, keywords or phrase. Select the ones which you think has more people clicking through. This is actually a keyword selector and suggestion tool that some sites are offering to those who are just their Adsense business.

Writing articles. Start writing original content with keywords from the topics that you have achieved in your search. Take note that search engines are taking pride in the quality of their articles and what you will be writing should keep up with their demands.

Quality content site. Build a quality content site incorporated with Adsense ads that is targeting the subject and keywords of your articles and websites. This is where all that youve done initially will go to and this is also where they will prove their worth to you.

The proper positioning of your ads should be done with care. Try to position your ads where surfers are most likely to click on them. According to research, the one place that surfers look first when they visit a certain site is the top left. The reason behind this is not known. Maybe it is because some of the most useful search engine results are at the top of all other rankings. So visitors tend to look in that same place when browsing through other sites.

Some of those who are just starting at this business may think they are doing pretty well already and thinking that their clickthrough rates and CPM figures are quite healthy. However, there are more techniques and styles to generate more clicks to double your earnings. By knowing these techniques and working them to your advantage, you will realize that you will be getting three times more than other people who have been previously doing what they are doing.

Finally, Adsense has some excellent tracking statistics that allows webmasters and publishers to track their results across a number of site on a site by site, page by page, or any other basis you wanted. You should be aware oft his capability and make the most of it because it is one powerful tool that will help you find out which ads are performing best. This way, you can fine tune your Adsense ads and focus more on the ones being visited the most rather than those who are being ignored.

Another thing you should know. Banners and skyscrapers are dead. Ask the experts. So better forget about banners and skyscrapers. Surfers universally ignore these kinds of ad formats. The reason behind this is that they are recognized as an advert and advert are rarely of any interest thats why people ignore them.

To really start making money with Adsense, you should have a definite focus on what you wanted to achieve and how you will go about achieving them. As with any other kind of business ventures, time is needed coupled with patience.

Do not just ignore your site and your Adsense once you have finished accomplishing them. Spare some time, even an hour, making adjustments to the Adsense ads on your sites to quickly trigger your Adsense income.

Give it a try and you would not regret having gotten into Adsense in the first place.

The Impractical Jokers Talk About Making Good Web Content, Getting Internet Famous

If you haven’t been watching the Impractical Jokers, you should. The Jokers a team of friends – Brian Quinn, Sal Vulcano, James Murray and Joe Gatto – who make each other do wacky stunts in public spaces. It’s hilarious.

The troupe started out as the Tenderloins and got big on MySpace by filming a nearly endless collection of skits. They’ve been together since 1999 and, after 15 years of hard work, the team brought their goofy humor to TruTV.

FacebookTwitterLinkedInImpractical Jokers Embraced Social Media Before It Was Cool

I got the chance to sit down with three members of the team to talk about how they went from being MySpace famous to being really famous. How did they pull it off? They use the power of social media to turn fans into friends. They’re meticulous about putting their Twitter handles on the show graphics and, during the rise of YouTube, they posted regular comedy skits making them some of the most well-known Internet comics. They even filmed a pilot in 2007 after winning $100,000 on NBC’s It’s Your Show.

Making Red Wine

Among the many types of wine available, red wine is among the best. There are many types of red wine available, although most are made using the same methods. This very exhilarating type of wine is made from black grapes, drawing their color from the skins of the grapes.

During the beginning stages of making red wine, the grapes that have been picked are put into a crusher. Here, the crusher will gently break the skins of the grapes. Depending on what type of wine is being made and the tannin thats required, the stalks will either be used or discarded at this point. Next, the grapes are put into a fermentation vat with the skins. This can be a long process, taking several weeks to complete. If a higher temperature is used, more tannin and color will be extracted from the grapes.

When making soft wines, the whole grapes are fermented using sealed vats. The carbon dioxide that becomes trapped in the sealed vats ferment the grapes under pressure, which is normally a quick process, taking only a few days. Keep in mind, the color and tannin content of the wine is based on how long the fermenting process takes. If the fermenting process takes a long time, the wine will generally hold more flavor and color.

The remaining bulk of the grapes will go through a press, being crushed to create a tannic wine. Sometimes, this tannic wine is added with a free run wine in order to add a bit more structure to the wine blend. Both the press and vat wine are then mixed and transferred to either tanks or barrels for a second fermentation. The second fermentation will take the longest, although it brings out the quality and taste from the wine.

All types of fine red wine will spend a minimum of a year in the barrels. Some types of red wine will spend a lot more time in the barrels, possibly several years. Red wine is also fine tuned with egg whites, which will suspend the yeast and other solids found in the wine downwards, before the wine is racked, filtered, and eventually bottled. Once the wine has been bottled, it is then shipped off and sold. Some wine however, will be stored for a period of time in the bottle before it is offered for sale.

The time a wine spends in the bottle is very important, although not every wine needs to spend a lot of time in the bottle. The more complex and more expensive types of red wine will benefit the most from aging in the bottle, to preserve flavor and color. The simple types of red wine however, dont need to spend much time at all in the bottle.
