Candy Crush developer King thinks its worth $7.6 billion (and it probably is)
King said today that it is looking for a market value of up to $7.6 billion with its IPO. The game developer wants to sell 22.2 million shares for between $21 and $24 when it goes public. If King hits this target, it would put the developer's valuation right in the middle between fellow "casual" game maker Zynga, which is currently valued at $5 billion after considerable drops in its stock price, and Electronic Arts, which is currently valued at about $9.2 billion.
That may seem like quite a large amount for a developer that makes what are essentially knock-off games, but it is important to keep in mind the enormous sums of money that King generates. In 2012, King recorded just $164.4 million in revenue, but that number skyrocketed to $1.88 billion in 2013. Aiming for a valuation equal to four times revenue is actually fairly reasonable, assuming the company can keep up those numbers, which is always tricky as Zynga has shown.

Instagram will soon be bombarded with $100 million worth of ads
Get ready to be bombarded with ads if you are an Instagram user. A published report on Friday says that Omnicom Media will be spending $100 million on Instagram ads on behalf of clients, over the next year. Currently, Instagram has 150 million active users with 60% of them outside the U.S. 55 million pictures are loaded on the app daily.
"This doesn't change our advertising strategy moving forward -- people will continue to see a limited number of beautiful, high-quality photos and videos from select brands who already have a strong presence on Instagram. Our teams are going to work hand in hand to develop and execute campaigns that provide people with amazing imagery. This is an exciting new chapter and we're looking forward to the great creative content that comes out of this partnership."-Jim Squires, director of market operations, Instagram
According to the report, ads in the user's stream will remain there for more than a day and will be in the form of a still image or a video. Instead of throwing a ton of ads at Instagram users and seeing what sticks, the spots will be targeted and selective. Instagram is said to be working with a small number of long term partners.
Now, Instagram just needs to find another $900 million in ads.

Fashion Magazines: What Ones Are Worth the Buy?
Are you interested in buying a fashion magazine or even a number of them? If you are interested in improving your appearance, in the fashion sense, there is a good chance that you are. Just so you know, it is more than possible for you to learn a lot about fashion through a fashion magazine, but if you are not careful, you can end up wasting your time and losing a considerable amount of money. That is why you may want to take the time to examine the fashion magazine or magazines that you are interested in buying.
When it comes to examining the fashion magazine or magazines that you are interested in buying, you will want to make sure that the magazine or magazines in question are really worth your money. To do this, there are a number of things that you will want to be on the lookout for. When examining fashion magazines to determine if they are really worth the buy, it works best if you are in the store or at a newsstand and able to look at them.
One thing that you will not want to do is make the mistake of believing that bigger is always better. In fact, bigger may actually end up being more expensive. Many individuals mistakenly believe that by buying a larger magazine, you are likely to find more information. What you need to know about fashion magazines is that the magazines are often full of advertisements. While you may think that are getting more information, you will likely find more advertisements, which may actually turn out to be a waste of your money. So, if you do want to spend more money on a larger fashion magazine, you will want to skim through the magazine to first make sure it isnt overfilled with advertisements.
Another thing that you will want to look for is the contents inside. For instance, you will want to skim through the contents page, which is often found at the beginning of the magazine. This will give you the opportunity to make sure that magazine or magazines you are about to buy are actually useful to you. Be cautious of any fashion magazine that only has about one or two articles that you may be interested in reading. A great alternative, and a free one at that, to fashion magazines is the internet. You can find a large number of online fashion tips and advice free of charge. This is a great way to find hard to find fashion tips or fashion tips that you cant seem to find in a printed fashion magazine.
In addition to checking a fashion magazine to see what is covered inside, you may also want to examine all fashion magazines that are you interested in buying if you are looking for something in particular. For instance, if you are looking for fashion tips or fashion advice on trendy workplace clothing, you will want to make sure that workplace fashion is covered in the magazine that you are interested in buying. With a fashion as popular as workplace fashions, you shouldnt have a problem finding fashion magazines, but for more detailed fashions, like gothic fashions, you may find yourself having to turn to the internet or a specialty magazine shop.
Another great way that you go about learning which fashion magazines are really worth your money is by speaking to those that you know. Fashion magazines are already popular, but they continue to rise in popularity. For that reason, there is a good chance that one of your friends, family members, neighbors, or coworkers may have bought a fashion magazine that they really liked or one that they thought was a waste of their money. Asking them for feedback or even to borrow the fashion magazine in question is great way to not only save your money, but use it wisely.
Fashion Magazines: Are They Worth the Buy?
Are you looking to improve your appearance or at least your sense of fashion? If you are, there is a good chance that you may be interested in buying fashion magazines. Fashion magazines are often stocked full of beauty tips, as well as fashion advice and tips. That why a large number of individuals buy fashion magazines each month, occasionally even on a weekly basis. But, the question is, should you?
When it comes to determining whether or not you should buy fashion magazines, there are a number of important factors that you may want to take into consideration. For instance, are you on a budget? Although fashion magazines are pretty affordable, the cost of them can add up over time. If you are on a budget or regularly find yourself having money troubles, you may want to think about saving your money. In fact, you should know that many of the fashion tips and trends found in well-known fashion magazines are likely to be quite costly; therefore, it can actually end up quite expensive to keep up with the latest fashion trends.
Another important factor that you should take into consideration, when trying to determine whether or not you should buy fashion magazines, is if you have the internet. Do you have internet access? If you do, did you know that you may be able to find a large number of online fashion magazines? What is nice about these online magazines is that the information found in them is often similar to what is found in printed magazines. Also, you should know that most of the information you get is free to access. Some online fashion magazines or websites ask you to pay a small fee, but not always.
Something else that you may want to take into consideration is the type of fashion that you are interested in learning more about. There are all different types of fashions. For instance, there are modern fashion trends, 80s fashion trends, gothic fashion trends, and so forth. Unfortunately, most printed fashion magazines only focus on one or two types of fashions and they are often the ones that are most popular at the moment. If you are looking for fashion tips, advice, and information on trends from other eras, aside from today, you may actually not find what you are looking for in a fashion magazine. To determine if so, you may want to think about at least skimming through a fashion magazine before buying it.
Another one of the many factors that you may want to take into consideration, when trying to determine if fashion magazines are really worth your money is your use of them. While a large number of magazine buyers actually read and sometimes even save the magazines that they buy, others out there just toss their recently purchased magazines aside. As previously mentioned, fashion magazines are actually affordably priced, but the cost of them can add up over time. For that reason, you may want to examine how much use you will get out of the magazine. If you really, truly think that you will use the fashion magazine that you want to purchase then go ahead and buy it. If you are only buying a fashion magazine just because, you may want to rethink your decision to do so. You can save yourself money by finding the same information online.
As you can see, there are a number of factors that you may want to take into consideration before buying a fashion magazine or a collection of them. Fashion magazines are a great way to learn about the latest fashions in todays society, but there are other, cheaper ways that you can go about doing so as well. As outlined above, you can use the internet to find online fashion magazines or you can actually just turn your television on, as there are a number of popular, informational fashion shows that can be found on the air.

10 tech non-profits worth donating to before 2014
Granted, the holidays didn't exactly leave us flush with cash, but as every charity we've ever contributed to has reminded us via e-mail over the past couple of days, the year is drawing to an end, which means we're running out of time to rack up those tax deductions. And what better way to do that than by donating to a cause you really believe in? In the seasonal spirit of not entirely altruistic giving, we've asked our editors to suggest some of their favorite non-profit tech organizations. Sure there's an endless list of non-tech orgas we could have included like, say, The Red Cross, the Humane Society or even the first amended defending Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, but for the sake of brevity -- and staying comfortably within our own wheelhouse -- here's a list of tech non-profits to get you started. If we skipped one of your favorites, feel free to add it in the comments below.
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation: When you leave your job as the longstanding CEO of one of the world's biggest tech companies, the choices for your future are pretty clear: do-gooder, billionaire playboy or super villain. Bill Gates chose door number one, thankfully, forming an organization focused on global development, health, education and advocacy.
Center for Democracy and Technology: The CDT has been fighting to keep the internet "open, innovative and free" since 1994. The organization's goals include democratizing online participation, enhancing user privacy and limiting government surveillance.
Child's Play: Video games and toys for sick kids? Now that's a cause we can get behind. Child's Play uses your donations to buy consoles, games, peripherals, toys and books for children in hospitals.
Code.org: Code.org wants to make programming a key part of K-12 education, bringing it to the STEM system, alongside math and science. The organization also looks to increase computer science participation among women and students of color.
Electronic Frontier Foundation: Government snooping! Patent trolls! Frivolous lawsuits! Who has your back in this fast moving digital age? Why, the EFF, of course!
Khan Academy: Devoted to free education for everyone, Khan Academy covers a wide range of subjects, including a slew of computer programming courses like game design and 3D modeling.
Mozilla Foundation: The team behind the one of the world's top browsers is a non-profit 501c dedicated to the creation of "world-class open source software." The list includes the Firefox browser, the learning tool Webmaker and the new Firefox mobile operating system.
One Laptop Per Child: OLPC is dedicated to the democratization of technology by innovating and distributing laptops and tablets to developing nations and other underrepresented areas.
Watsi: An innovative site that combines social networking with crowdfunding to donate healthcare to individuals in need.
Wikimedia Foundation: We all visit Wikipedia pretty much every day, so we've all seen Jimmy Wales' face pleading for donations. The money you contribute to Wikimedia helps support the technology and staff that run the foundation's wildly popular open information sites.
Oh, and there are also plenty of ways to donate your old technology. You can find the place nearest you at DonateTechnology.com.
