HTC One available today in the US, Verizon gets it in-store first

By now you probably know if you need HTC's shiny new One in your life -- now it all comes down to where and when you can nab it. Thanks to some wheeling and dealing, Verizon Wireless has a head start in the US: Online and in-store sales start today at 1 PM Eastern. AT&T and Sprint will kick off their online sales at that time too, but you can't waltz into one of their brick-and-mortar stores to find one until April 11th. As you might expect, the 16GB model will cost you $199, while the 32GB model comes in at $249... and if the thought of contracts makes you ill, you can buy one sans agreement for $649. The lone standout is T-Mobile, which won't sell the device until some time next month (we've reached out for clarification and will update this story as we learn more). Of course, everything above assumes you want your carrier's blessing. Don't forget: HTC will sell unlocked and developer versions for $649 on its website, and a $699 Play Edition version should hit the Google Play Store soon too.

Image of Verizon branded LG Lucid 3 (VS876) leaks

A tweet sent out by master leaker evleaks reveals an image of the Verizon branded LG Lucid 3 (VS876). The original LG Lucid launched almost two years ago and the sequel was released last April. The picture of the device shows that LG has sharply reduced the size of the bezels from the previous model. LG has also changed the squared off corners to rounded ones.

The design of the camera and flash on the back of the phone looks similar to what LG employed on the LG Lucid 2, except that the camera lens itself is higher up on the back of the rear panel, as is the single LED flash. And of course, Verizon couldn't leave that much unmarked space on the back without putting its iconic trademark and 4G LTE logo on it.

Based on the launch dates of the original LG Lucid and the LG Lucid 2, we'd expect to see this new model launched at the end of this month, or during the first week of April. So far, there hasn't been a peep about the phone, which means we have no word yet on pricing or specs.

Full press render for Samsung ATIV SE, Windows Phone for Verizon, leaks

First of all, it looks like a repurposed Galaxy S4, with small changes to the back plate near the bottom of the device. Volume rocker and power/lock buttons are in familiar places for Samsung users. We would not be surprised if that was a 13MP camera.

Specification-wise, we do not know anything official, but this form factor virtually guarantees the aforementioned camera, a 5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, and we fairly certain that there is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU to round up the package.

Leaked press images show Samsung's ATIV SE for Verizon

Samsung's upcoming Windows 8.1 smartphone for Verizon, the ATIV SE, passed through the FCC last month, and now we're getting a look at the actual device. The leaked press photos above show a phone that strongly resembles the Windows Phone-powered ATIV S, with a physical home button. The alleged ATIV SE appears to share design elements with Samsung's Galaxy handsets as well, from the rounded edges to the textured finishes on the back and front. It's still unclear when the ATIV SE will launch on Verizon, but we know it'll arrive some time this year following the debut of the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. Expect a 5-inch, 1080p display and LTE capability when the SE hits store shelves.

Verizon now sells the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014, offers Google's Nexus 7 2013 for $49.99 on contract

Verizon today launched the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition - which, despite what its name suggests, is a tablet that’s been available from other locations since October last year. We knew that this would eventually come to Verizon.

Verizon is offering the Note 10.1 2014 for $699.99 off contract, and for $599.99 to customers willing to sign a new 2-year contract agreement. Although it's not the newest tablet around, the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 remains a high-end offering. Its features include a 10.1-inch display with 2560 x 1600 pixels, S Pen Stylus, LTE connectivity, 8MP rear camera, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a 8,220 mAh battery.
The Note 10.1 is the second Samsung-made tablet released by Verizon this year. Earlier this month, the carrier launched the newer, bigger and arguably better Samsung Galaxy Note Pro, which costs $749.99 on contract, or $849.99 outright. Yes, we know, these on contract prices are ridiculously high.

In related news, Verizon has cut the price of its Nexus 7 2013 from $249.99 on contract to just $49.99. As you may know, the carrier started selling the Nexus 7 with LTE last month.

Samsung Galaxy S5 variants for Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile score FCC approvals

Earlier today we told you that AT&T’s version of Samsung’s Galaxy S5 (model number SM-G900A) was approved by the FCC. It turns out that the SM-G900A didn’t visit the agency alone, as three other Galaxy S5 variants passed the FCC hurdle today: SM-G900V (for Verizon), SM-G900P (for Sprint), and SM-G900T (for T-Mobile).

Sure enough, we already knew that all major US mobile carriers were getting ready to launch the Samsung Galaxy S5. All four will most likely release it on April 11 - that’s the worldwide launch date announced by Samsung. The new smartphone will also be available at MetroPCS, US Cellular, and Sprint’s pre-paid brands (Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile).

Yesterday we reported that 300,000 customers have already pre-registered their interest for T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S5. We’re assuming that interest is high at other carriers, too. But we’ll see what happens once the new smartphone is released.

New HTC One sold on eBay in Verizon packaging for $500

Given the vast number of leaks about HTC's all new One, its upcoming flagship launching March 25th, it's almost surprising that it was this long before we saw a retail unit sold on eBay. But hey, it's finally happened, although we must say we're a bit puzzled as to why the sale only netted $500. Naturally, the final retail price will be a bit higher than that. Regardless of price, the fact that it comes in its packaging is more important because it has most of the specs listed on it.

We can't take this as official confirmation of the phone's specs -- it's all mere speculation until the One launches on the 25th, so it could still easily change between now and then. However, the box tells us we can expect a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 801 chipset, a 5-inch 1080p display, microSD slot for expandable memory and 32GB internal storage, a 5MP front-facing camera, UltraPixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, a Nano-SIM slot and 2GB of RAM. Curiously, the eBay listing has been taken down already, but it appears that the damage is already done and the phone is likely already on its way to the lucky winner.

LG G Pad 8.3 with LTE could be on its way to Verizon

With LTE speeds putting coffee-shop WiFi to shame, many tablet makers now produce devices in pairs: one model with WiFi, and another with an extra 4G radio and SIM slot. Not LG's G Pad 8.3, though, as both skinned and Google editions of the slate spurn LTE for the sake of their ol' buddy WiFi. It appears, however, that Verizon may've persuaded LG to pull together a cellular version of the G Pad for its network, if puzzle pieces from a recent FCC filing end up fitting together as we'd expect. All we know from the official docs is that an LG tablet, model number VK810, has been approved for the US market with LTE support for Bands 4 and 13 -- Verizon's magic numbers. As PhoneArena points out, the mystery tablet's dimensions are more or less identical to those of the G Pad 8.3, which is where the trail ends. So, it's more than likely we'll see LG launch a 4G model with Big Red soon, but if being tied down ain't your bag, then at least let its existence foster hopes of a carrier-agnostic LTE model sometime later.
