HTC announces the new One with depth-sensing camera and larger screen

The "all new" HTC One has been one of the worst kept secrets of 2014, but today it's a secret no more. The Taiwanese manufacturer has taken the wraps off its latest flagship and fans of last years model (count us among them) won't be disappointed. The phone boasts the same aluminum unibody construction as last year's model, but with more pronounced curves and even more metal this time around. A full 90 percent of the body is made of aluminum, quite a bit more than the 70 percent on last year's. That means it's about half and ounce heavier, but it seems like a small trade off given the incredible design and spacious 5-inch screen. That panel is still a 1080p S-LCD3 one, which means you can count on the same bright colors and deep blacks. Plus the whole front is protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass 3. Oh, and before we go any further -- the pair of capacitive buttons have been replaced with the standard trio of Android soft keys! (Phewww...)

Google Trends is now, finally, a screen saver

The flying toasters and infinite space your sleeping computer's been living with are being retired. No, After Dark isn't being resurrected and, well, does Windows even come with a screen saver built-in anymore? It's Google, and specifically the Trends section of Google, that's leading the bleeding edge of screen saver tech: Mac users can now download a Trends-driven screen saver that...yep, it culls trending Google topics and pushes them to your screensaver. Vine truly comes to the web, with full screen TV mode

Vine certainly is taking its time fleshing out its feature set. Most surprisingly, you couldn't actually browse the short video sharing service from the comfort of your desktop browser until now. Sure, you could follow a link that would lead you to a specific Vine, but couldn't skim a feed of clips from people you follow or look through a user's history. Thankfully that all changes today as the service finally embraces the web, and begins moving away from its entirely app-based existence. Now when you log in you'll be presented with a scrolling list of six-second updates and you can click through to checkout those all important profiles. And, just so the company can't be accused of being lazy, it's bringing something a little special to the desktop -- TV Mode. Click the TV icon in the upper right hand corner and you'll be treated to a full screen presentation of Vines played in sequence. It's a pretty easy way to catch up on all your friends' travels, meals and petscapades (you know, pet escapades) without having to touch the scroll bar.

Oppo Find 7 will not have a 5.7 inch screen

There have been rumors about the display size on the Oppo Find 7. We reported earlier that the upcoming flagship from the Chinese manufacturer may sport a 5.7" screen. There were some people who believed that the display would be 7", seeing as the Find 5 had a 5" one.

However, Carl Pei, International Markets Manager at Oppo announced publicly that the Find 7's screen will not be either of these sizes. Here's the actual quote as pasted on Mr. Pei's Google+ account:

"Rest assured guys, the Find 7 will not have a 5.7" or 7" display."

This comment was made in response to many users complaining about the Find 7 becoming too large to handle, which is quickly becoming the case with more and more high-end smartphones.

So if you were bummed out that the Find 7 would become an iPad mini will phone capabilities, then cheer up. The Find 7 will have a big screen, just not too big.

Zauba � an organization handling the import of tech into India � has listed 43 units of the Nokia RM-977 as being brought in from Finland for "intercompany use for testing and evaluation purposes only".

The details on the device are scarce, but the screen size is known � 4.5". That's the same size as the Lumia 92x handsets, and a bit smaller than the 4.7" Lumia 625.

The price of the device is listed as INR 8,000 ($130). That's the same price as a Lumia 520, but much cheaper than the INR 15,000 ($245) price for the Lumia 625. So, what is it? The info on the site says it's a single-SIM device, so that rules out a dual-SIM Asha (those are under INR 5,000 anyway).

Update: The site actually lists two versions with the same model number. The second version is marked "dual-SIM". Is this the Nokia Moneypenny?

Is it a Lumia 520's equivalent of the 625 � same specs, bigger screen? We won't know until it's official or at least until someone leaks it.

Zauba is at it again � this time the Indian import tracking site leaked a Nokia device with a 5.2" screen and the model number RM-964. The device is once again being imported for testing.

Unlike the 4.5" Nokia RM-977, the RM-964 is an expensive device costing INR 34,524 ($563/�410). It's a single-SIM only too, there's no mention of a dual-SIM version. So, it's clearly a Lumia of some kind (Asha devices are around INR 5,000), but what could it be?

A quick check reveals an old rumor for a 5.2" Nokia device, allegedly Lumia 825, that leaked in August. The specs for the handset listed 720p screen resolution, Snapdragon 400 chipset (quad-core processor, Adreno 305) and Windows Phone OS (but unfortunately, no model number).

The listed price seems a bit steep for those specs, but that's just the declared price for an R&D device and doesn�t necessarily reflect the real retail cost.

By the way, Nokia allegedly has a 5" powerhouse in the works too, the Lumia 929. With a 1080p screen and Snapdragon 800 chipset it will target flagship Androids, while the Nokia RM-964 Lumia 825 will face the mid-rangers.
